●Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN fingered in imposition of unpopular candidate in Apapa APC LG primaries.
The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, SAN has been alleged to be the arrow head behind the imposition of Mr. Adele Elijah Owolabi as the chairmanship flagbearer of Apapa Local Government in the coming July 22nd local government elections.
Osinbajo is said to have forwarded the name of Mr. Adele to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as his (Osinbajo) preferred candidate for the chairmanship seat in Apapa having been hoodwinked by Hon. Ayodeji Joseph, a member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Apapa Federal Constituency and who was the former council boss of Apapa Local Government.
Reliable sources closed to the national leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who will not liked to be named for obvious reasons revealed that prior to the intervention of the Acting President, Tinubu has flatly rejected the aspiration of Mr. Adele Elijah Owolabi but had to concede in a bid to honour the wishes of the Acting President.
Unfortunately, the decision of the Acting President to pick and insist on Mr. Adele as the Chairmanship candidate was ill-advised as the Acting President is uninformed about the prevailing political situation in Apapa at this time.
Mr. Adele, unknown to the Acting President is widely unpopular and has been flatly rejected by residents withing Apapa and this is evident in the multiple petitions that have been written to the Lagos State APC leadership regarding Mr. Adele’s chairmanship aspiration.
Mr. Adele who was the secretary to the local government during Hon. Ayodeji Joseph’s tenure as council boss has no chance of winning the coming local government election as Apapa residents have rejected him and Hon. Ayodeji Joseph and their group.
This is even so because Hon. Ayodeji Joseph’s tenure as chairman in Apapa was a monumental failure and only got elected to the Federal House of Representatives on the back of the bandwagon effect of President Muhammadu Buhari’s candidature as was the case in many other parts of the country.
The APC, as it stands now, risk losing the chairmanship election in Apapa as residents have concluded to defect enmass to other parties while several APC members have decided to work and vote against the part if the APC insists on fielding Mr. Adele in a scenerio similar to what happened in Amowu Odofin, Ajeromi-Ifelodun and Ojo LGAs in the 2015 general elections where the APC lost some Federal House of Representative seats to protest votes.
