World football governing Fifa has warned that Nigeria will be suspended from all football-related activities should Amaju Pinnick be removed as president of Nigeria’s Football Federation (NFF).
If last week’s ruling by a court in Nigeria, that Mr Pinnick be replaced by Chris Giwa is implemented, it will amount to interference in the internal affairs of the NFF, Fifa said in a letter to Mr Pinnick.
“… the case would be brought to the highest authorities of Fifa for consideration of sanctions, including the suspension of the NFF,” the letter added.
Fifa says Mr Giwa’s bid for the leadership of the NFF was dismissed by its highest judicial authority last May.
The crisis rocking the NFF has led to police taking over the main of office of the organisation in the capital, Abuja.
